About Alice

I teach all ages of violin and viola students. I am currently an active performer and teacher with a Doctor's degree in performance. I played in two major orchestras prior to moving to Williamsburg 13 years ago.

It is a way of life for me. I love seeing the success my students achieve, based on their interest level. Some students are casual learners, others are very serious..

I began teaching when I was in high school, and am certified to teach all levels.

Ultimate degree is a DMA in performance. I have taught privately since I was in high school, and have taught at Rutgers University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, VCU, and have given master classses for the American String Teachers Associations in multiple states. I have recruited students for the Tanglewood Institute, The Philadelphia International Music Festival (with the Philadelphia Orchestra), SMU, LIMI, Loyola University (New Orleans) and others. I have performed as soloist at Alice Tully Hall in NYC, and featured in world premiers at Carnegie Hall and elsewhere. I played with the Dallas and New Jersey Symphony Orchestras and developed a string program in New Jersery for grades 3 - 12 public schools. I have taught students from age 4 to 80.

About the lesson

I teach the traditional method; holding the instrument, note reading, with a system of learning that encourages confidence.

I have taught students who are casual learners, and have taught serious students to prepare them for college and professional auditions.

Take a sample lesson first, before you make a committment. You need to feel comfortable with the teacher, and they with you. Make certain that the teacher has a "system" of teaching with successful students and can explain the methodology they use/ materials, etc.

Hard to say... I have played and taught all my life and enjoy it all, including professional orchestras, recordings (classcal and pops), working with some of the great artists (Paverotti, Yoyo Ma, Joshua Bell, Andy Williams, and many more).

Details

My fee is $45.00 for a lesson (1/2 hour to 59 minutes). Once a students evolves to an hour lesson, the fee is $65.00 per hour. My lessons do not end when the students leave my studio. Thay can contact me anytime for help between lessons.
