AS MANY WHO ALREADY KNOW ME, KNOW I HAVE A SLIGHT PASSION / OBSESSION WITH COOKING AND NUTRITION. SOME OF MY EARLIEST MEMORIES ARE OF EATING FRUIT STRAIGHT FROM THE TREE ON MY GRANDFATHER’S FARM; A SORT OF FARM TO MOUTH INITIATIVE. SINCE THOSE DAYS I HAVE BEEN TO CULINARY SCHOOL, OWNED A RESTAURANT AND READ HUNDREDS OF COOKBOOKS AS THOUGH NOVELS. THERE ARE JUST AS MANY THEORIES ON HOW TO EAT AS THERE ARE PEOPLE. I HAVE DABBLED IN ALL SORTS OF DIETARY EATING AND REALIZED THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IS QUALITY WHOLESOME INGREDIENTS. WE ALL KNOW MODERATION IS BEST, LOCALLY SOURCED, ORGANICALLY GROWN AND MADE WITH CARE.

THROUGH GROUP CLASSES OR ONE ON ONE COOKING LESSONS MY INTENTIONS ARE TO PROVIDE A BROADER UNDERSTANDING OF OUR FOOD, HOW IT NOURISHES AND A FEW TASTY RECIPES TO MAKE IT PALATABLE. ONLY YOU ARE THE EXPERT OF YOUR OWN BODY BUT HAVING THE OPPORTUNITY TO EMPOWER YOU TO BE IN CHARGE OF YOUR OWN HEALING JOURNEY .

I have always loved sharing knowledge and helping people to learn and grow in the kitchen setting. I have done a couple of group cooking classes but I also enjoy the one on one interaction and getting into detail about the science of food.

I have been baking and learning about healthy cooking techniques since I was eight. I went to Johnson & Wales University, graduating in 1997 with an Asssociates in Applied Sciences of Baking & Pastry Arts. I went on to work in high production bake shops and in 4 and 5 star restaurants in Charleston, SC eventually moving to Franklin, IN and opening a restaurant from 2010-2014. In the last five years I have been working on recipes and researching plant based eating and other methods of obtaining optimal health through diet.

About the lesson

I like to spend some time in the beginning getting to know what someones favorite foods are and what they are wanting to learn. Showing them healthier versions of their favorites and things that will realistically add into their weekly rotation of meals.

While I am just getting started with one on one lessons I have mostly worked in a group setting to teach basics and healthy eating techniques.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would think about whether you would like to simply attain recipes and a few new techniques in the kitchen or if you would like more of the science of cooking and are needing to learn the basics.

Details

My pricing structure starts at $40 an hour plus cost of food. Generally spending at least 2 hours per cooking lesson.
