About Olga

I have worked in the food service industry as a chef, caterer, demonstration chef, restaurant consultant, culinary instructor, private chef, personal chef, banquet and events manager, food truck operator, bartender, server, restaurant manahger and more. I have extensive experience with many types of cuisine and can customize a personal class experience to suit adults or children for birthday parties, wine nights, couples gatherings, in-home, pure and simple learning experiences or corporate, team building events.

Nothing gives me more joy than making people happy with delicious food and the act of cooking for and with them.

I was asked to teach a childrens cooking camp at Sweetwater Center for the Arts after the original teacher had to cancel at the last minute. I found that I thoroughly enjoyed it and went on to teach camps for 11 years as well as teaching adult classes, workshops, demos and corporate team building events.

30+ years of restaurant and food service experience including culinary school and work as consultant hired specifically to develop new menu items, entire menus and to train the teams who would be preparing those items

16+ years of teaching and hosting cooking camps, classes, workshops and demonstrations including 3 years of writing food features and recipes for the Pittsburgh Tribune Review

About the lesson

I first talk to the student or students about what they hope to accomplish. Then I discuss with them their level of experience. And finally, I offer to the student for approval, a lesson plan that I think will best suit their specific circumstances.

Every type of student imaginable; all ages, backfgrounds and ethnicities, including speical needs children with serious motor skills limitations.

Make sure you know [specifically] what you want to learn or gain from the experience and make sure you ask for exactly that. If an instructor can't cater a class to your specifications, you should continue to shop instructors until you find one who can.

I recently cooked in the home of a family who won a gift certificate for personal chef services at a charity event. They asked for a traditional menu of Beef Wellington, Risotto, Green Beans, etc and it was all prepared i their kitchen with their assistance. The food turned out perfectly and we all had a fabulous time together.
