About Heather

I enjoy working with students one on one because I believe that it allows me the opportunity to truly cater each lesson to the student's individual needs. I am a very observant, engaged teacher and I am confident in my ability to design a curriculum that suits the needs of each of my students and specifically helps them progress toward their personal goals. Every body is different, and working closely with students allows me not just to teach them about dance, but to teach them about dance in the context of their unique form.

I'm greatly passionate about the physical and creative benefits of dance. I believe it can open students up to a whole new part of themselves, as it provides tools to further understand their body as well as to more thoroughly and openly express themselves. I enjoy working with dance students as it is incredibly rewarding to witness the joy they can discover through movement, and to be there for them as they push themselves to new physical and artistic limits.

I grew up in a dance studio, as my mom is a dance teacher and I was always inspired by the difference I saw her making in the lives of others. I started assisting her classes at a young age and have pursued it more seriously throughout my career, as I have always been moved by the opportunity to make a difference in someone's life.

I have a B.A. in Dance from Muhlenberg college, where I studied dance education, performance, and choreography. My technique training spans across many styles including ballet, modern, jazz, and tap. I have also attended programs such as American Dance Festival and Christopher K. Morgan & Artists Summer Intensive. I have taught dance to students of all ages for 6 years, including studio classes and one on one sessions.
