About Michael

Quality instruction that has you dancing... not just learning steps .

I started helping other kids in the sixth grade in math and english... then started teaching tennis in high school. I have always had a knack for understanding the mechanics and or structure of anything I do... And can relay it in a way that is easy to understand. When I went home to Texas from the military... well... as they say... when in Texas, do as Texans do. I figured out I love dancing... And that I loved teaching it even more.

I was given the best training I've ever seen by a couple of brothers that used to be Fred Astaire teachers. I was taught everything from exact footwork and foot placement to wall alignments and dance positions in the 10 basic dances. 4 hours a night 5 nights a week for 3 months. I started with 2 step a year or so before, teaching myself, and waz quickly asked to start teaching at the club that I was going to.

About the lesson

First step is to find out what they want to learn, then introduce the elements of dancing. Then show them how to put them together for the Dance they are wanting to learn. Keeping it light and simple... getting to know them, as well as letting them get to know me.

I have taught doctors and lawyers, nurses and judges... as well as business owners and teachers. Engineers are the most fun... Lol! College students... ballerinas, construction workers... all walks of life.

Make sure your teacher understands and cares about what YOU want. And that they teach in a manner that allows you to learn. As an instructor... I have to learn how to say the same thing in many different ways. Every student has different hobbies and experiences... and I have to find a way to relate to you.

I went to a salsa congress a while back that had teachers and students from all over the country. It's so marvelous to see all the different types of people, as well as different styles, of those that love to dance. Lots of classes to add to my dancing... And lots and lots of dancing.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Unfortunately ... in any kind of sales, it's not about the questions you have, it's about the questions your prospective teacher has for you. That's why you have the introductory lesson. The teacher as to find out your needs . You have to find out if they are. Although... standard questions of availability and price are expected. Maybe if there are group classes available... How long someone's been teaching... but it all boils down to if the teacher trays to reach you on your level and not just throwing information at you.

I offer an introductory lesson for $30... then the next 10 are $50 per lesson... And then they go to $65. All my lessons are 55 minutes.
