About Sij
I study a few different types of dances: Bharatanatyam which is a classical indian dance and Bellydance.
I have been learning Bharatanatyam for over 3 years and have performed in the Boston area during major Indian festivals.
I have been learning and performing bellydance since 2008, and have performed with local musicians and working on teaching at a local dance studio. I also host bellydance events featuring international dancers. I have studied with many different famous bellydancers worldwide.
I craft my lesson plans based on each student's needs. I break down rhythms and explains the cultural context too. I also drill the techniques that I teach in class until the student has a grasp on what's been taught and I go over those techniques during each lesson. I believe in continuous efforts. You can only perfect your dance through constant learning and practice. I always encourage students to practice a few times a week.
I love to help students reach their dance goals and help them thrive and find their own passion in dance. My goal is to help each and one of the students find their own flavor and rediscover themselves in dance.
