About AnnaMaria
Black Arrow Workshop is the professional studio of AnnaMaria Jackson-Phelps. Specializing in Acrylic painting her artwork has hung in many places including St. Louis, Washington DC, and Belgium. AMJP has also taught watercolor, acrylic, and drawing for many years to adults and children.
Art is my passion, and I love sharing the ability to express oneself throught paint and drawing with others.

Initally I like to find out what goals the student has for themselves, whether its mastery or just the ability to recreate a picture they love. Then we work together to find their skill level.
I have worked with students from primary school aged to seniors. Additionally I have worked with non-neurotypical students. I teach a regular technique class once a week for teens as well as an acrylic painting class for adults.
In particular, ask about what techniques you'll be learning, particularly if you want long term instruction. Additionally, its good to know who will be providing materials for each class!
I've been teaching a group class to a bunch of dynamic teens this summer. They're enthusiastic as well as creative, which makes the class extra fun for ALL of us!

Ms. Jackson-Phelps is a patient teacher who describes exactly what you should do with each painting stroke or use of colors. I appreciate that she would take time to explain why we mix different media and why we use certain brushes. I feel she taught me in a way that I am confident about moving on to new paintings on my own.
