Hello! This is Adrian Jimenez and my friend Bassie was my guitar instructor. Guitar is an instrument I been wanting to learn for a while, and when I found out Bassie was a guitarist, I wanted him to instruct me. The main thing I appreciated bout Bassie was his patience while teaching me. Considering I only did half hour lessons, he would find different methods to teach me how to remember each string, like using (E)very (B)oy (G)ets (D)inner (A)t (E)ight. He also showed me different strumming methods by providing real life examples what it’s like to strum, the motion your hand should do that is.
Unfortunately I didn’t have the time needed at times to attend some lessons but when he postponed with me, we were still able to pick up where we left off and I liked seeing his reaction of me still getting the chords and strumming correctly after postponing.
When I get the chance, I’ll definitely go back to taking lessons with Bassie to continue learning to play the guitar.

Larry taught a few workshops at the Franciscan Life Process Center. He used a PowerPoint presentation in a workshop on Composition, and used historical paintings as examples of what he was teaching. He also taught a few drawing workshop and taught all the different media used in drawing. He is friendly and makes sure that every person is served in the workshop. He has a passion for teaching and that is always evident. I have also taken a portrait workshop by him.
It was wonderful and years later I remember things he taught me while I create my own portraits. His work is beautiful and professional. He is a pleasure to work with.

Larry is an outstanding teacher who is very kind and has a basic understanding of a students needs. He has volumes of knowledge he passes on to anyone who wants to learn about making beautiful paintings or drawings.

Larry Blovits is an incredibly generous and knowledgeable teacher.  He willingly shares such a wealth of information!  I had not done any of my own painting in many years when I signed up for my first Blovits workshop. Larry was so encouraging. I learned so much and continued to take workshops as well as receiving critiques from Larry over the course of many years.  I consider Larry to be a mentor and friend and feel very fortunate to have been able to learn from him.

I was a student of Larry Blobits through a few different sessions over a few different years. I am also an Art instructor and have been for 34 years, so I'm very familiar with what it takes to be ineffective instructor. Larry is an incredibly inspirational teacher and artist, in my opinion. I grew as I worked with him and learned the techniques that he was presenting to the class.

His techniques and approach to working in pastels was very different than what I was used to. He challenged me to see the process differently. To progress forward with a different technique, different steps, even different papers and pastels. All of which, I wouldn't have experimented with if it weren't for his teaching.

As an artist, his work is exceptional. His portraits and his landscapes are all a thing of beauty. His attention to detail, as well as his eye for color, is truly impressive.

Any venue, any group of students, any artist colleague would be better from working with Larry Blobits.
