About Maryann

I create lessons specifically for my students based on their needs and skills. My students gain valuable skills in various medium and creative coaching to help them expand their imaginations. I am a professional Educator at Houston Community College in the Interior Design Department and I have maintained a studio space for more than 30 years.

Painting- watercolor and Acryliic

Drawing - realism and abstraction

Sewing- garment making and art quilts

Needlework- embroidery, crochet, knit

Metalwork- recycling aluminum cans

I started teaching in elementary and middle schools. I was part of a program called Art a'la Carte which introduced children to Fine Art, Art History and gave them some hands on experiences using various materials.

I ran a studio in Scotland for 5 years and now I teach at Houston Community College in the Interior Design Department. I teach Rendering, Presentation Drawing and Texiles classes.

I have a Bachelors degree in Art. I have been a practicing artist (practice makes progress!!) most of my life, workin gin diverse medium and styles.

From my studio space in Scotland I ran drawing and painting classes, fiber art classes including spinning, dying and weaving. I am a skilled knitter/crochet pattern designer.

About the lesson

Our initial conversation will help me understand where you are artistically and where you want to expand your skills. I will develop a weekly or monthly plan outlining lessons and training that will help you achieve your goal. I am happy to have students visit my studio, or I can travel to your home.

Our first meeting will be in a public space where we can chat and set some goals.

All grade and skill levels. I am comfortable tailoring lessons for the needs of my students.

Details

My base price for lessons is 30.00 per hour. This is for lessons conducted in my studio in the Montrose area of Houston, or at a location within 10 miles of my studio.

Package Prices can be discussed for longer term lessons.
