About NICK

My bachelors and masters degrees are in both painting and sculpting. I am currently a full time artist. I have tought grade school age students through continuing education retired adults. I have taught myself how to use most mediums as I work in a wide variety of materials and believe in not limiting yourself because of limited technical abilities. My masters degree is from The New York Academy Of Art where teaching old master style techincal skills of drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture is basically all they teach.

Art can be emotional, therapeutic, meaningful, etc. It's one form of expression that I understand and would like to help others utilize.

I first began teaching at a gallery I started exhibiting with right after my undergrad. We started a small studio in the back of the gallery.

My undergrad is from TCU with an emphasis in painting and sculpting. My masters is from The New York Academy Of Art with an emphasis in painting. I have an extensive background in most mediums old and new.

About the lesson

For first time students, I prefer to have them show me their latest work and talk about their goals. Then I prefer to dive in and start right away.

I have taught all ages and skill levels.

Find a good fit. Just because the artist is a good artist doesn't make them good at translating or teaching. Find someone you can connect with as well as respect.

I often trouble shoot and problem solve for other artists as well as help with complex installs with galleries. One of the last exhibits I worked on was at The Hole Gallery in New York City where an extensive group show was put together around the concept of the book, Meet Me In The Bathroom. I helped transform the white wall gallery into a grunge rock bar which inluded bar, seating faux restrrom build out and faux finishing the entire building with decaying paint and graffiti as well as a wall of wheatpastes by Andre'.
