About Stephanie

I started my Step by Step Painting for Beginners classes in 1997. I have over 20 years of teaching art, painting and drawing, and still work regularly throughout the Riverside and Orange County areas.

My students, young and older, are able to complete a beautiful painting in one to two hours every meeting, so there is something new to paint all the time. I have built a reputation on my instructional process, and students thank me for helping them to feel at ease and making it fun during their beginning sessions of learning to paint.

Painting to me is a win-win experience for evryone. I have a passion for painting, and always enjoy the look on the faces of new painters who thought a stick figure would be the only thing they could paint. They are surprised to see their inner artist come to the surface after only being with me for a fisrt or second class, and they have completed a prized landscape or seascape on their own! Painting is a gift, and I will continue to be of service for many more years to come.

I stared painting at a very young age. My father was an excellent watercolor portrait artist, as was my grandmother, and won awards. Art runs in my family. I was trained as a counselor, and worked many years doing art therapy, and then went into my own business in 1997 starting with kids age 6-12. I soon realized that adults would appreciate it also, and was asked to teach. I have won awards, and been in many juried exhibits, including the International Surfing Museum, and Newport Beach City Gallery, and Huntington Beach Art Center exhibits. I belong to two art leagues. It's been many fun years with all age groups. I began in the recreational facilities in Orange County, and moved to Riverside County recreational facilities. I now cover both north and south Calidfornia working for many facilities as independent contractor. I added Painting Parties and Events for Charities as well in 2016. For the most part, I am a 'natural', and self taught artist.

About the lesson

It is very important to be relaxed, confident and be yourself. I usually begin by sgaring a short story about myself, and with a little humor to lighten any possible tension a new painter may have.

I will begin explaining the process, and examples if how their process will begin, and end. I paint along with them every step of the way. That way, they feel relaxed and not pushed in any way. Their outcome far exceeds what they expected.
