About Amalia

In 2015 I graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a BFA in oil painting & printmaking with a minor in art history.

In May 2016 I began working at Glenview School of Arts as an instructor, teaching K-12 art lessons in a variety of mediums. As an art instructor, my responsiblities included teaching students the fundamentals of art theory and technique by conducting demonstrations. I also developed many new projects and assisted in program planning for each age group, including art camps.

Since January 2017, I have been working at the Oak Park Art League teaching oil painting classes to adults. As an oil painting instructor, I am responsible for developing and implementing various thematic personal lesson plans for each student based off skills, subject matter, and basic understanding for oil paint.

With my academic knowledge of art theory, art practice, and art history, as well as my experience as an art instructor for both K-12 and adult age groups, I believe I am a very suitable private tutor and would love to meet you.

Art education promotes academic and social benefits such as critical and creative thinking. I take joy watching my students flourish as they build their skills with each project.

About the lesson

I keep track of every student by organizing their own personal file/folder. When I meet a new student I will need to see previous artworks, if applicable, so I can organize their chronological progress with every new project.

Artistic expression is important, so I will ask each new student what they would like to achieve taking my private lessons (example: color theory, materials & techniques, art history, compositional structure, perspective & proportion, etc). I will also ask if they are comfortable with experimenting with different mediums or if they would like to master a specific one.

K-12 and adults.

Learning traditional art theory & techniques--especially if you are trying to understand and replicate realism--will take lots of time, practice, and patience. It is a lot like learning how to play the piano.

When I am not teaching, I work on my own portfolio and exhibit my work around the Chicagoland area. I am an active member of the Oak Park Art League and have been visiting various art shows, fairs, and events. Meeting fellow artists and teachers is important to me.
