About Michael
Welcome to my artist-teacher platform! My name is Michael Joseph Mikolon, and I am thrilled to share my passion for art with you. Born in Dearborn, Michigan in 1970, I now reside in Sacramento, California, where I’ve been a part of the Warehouse Artist Lofts community for the past decade.
I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Illustration from the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, graduating with high honors in 1995. In 2010, I began teaching art privately, focusing on basic drawing, watercolor techniques, portrait painting, and figure drawing. Over the past 15 years, I’ve worked with students of all experience levels—from first-timers discovering their creativity to seasoned artists refining their craft.
Art is for everyone! I deeply believe that creativity is a skill anyone can develop, and I’m here to guide you on your artistic journey. My full-time dedication to art has taught me that persistence and passion are key to growth. While creating art can be challenging, I’ve developed methods that simplify the learning process, focusing on the basic fundamentals and building from there. Whether you're here to master techniques or simply enjoy the process of creating, I’ll provide the support and guidance you need.
What makes working with me special? I bring not only years of professional experience as a muralist, illustrator, and painter but also a genuine love for teaching and collaboration. I’m committed to creating a welcoming environment where you can explore, learn, and grow as an artist.
