About David

I am an oil painter, and enjoy portraiture, landscapes, realism and historical narrative, Native American subject matter. I am also an educator and writer and have written about Native American contemporary art. I am a former Assistant Adjunct Professor of Art at Dowling College at Oakdale, NY. and have a BFA in Art, M.Ed in art education and certificates in Museum sciences.

I started teaching during high school and after high school, more than 40 years ago.

I start painting oils in Southampton High School.

I studied art in University of Oklahoma receiving a Bachelor of Fine Art s with Honors in Advertising Design.

I studied art in the certificate program at the Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe, New Mexico.

I studied art at Central State University in Oklahoma and received a Masters in Art Eduction.

About the lesson

A lot depends on what the student prefers: drawing, acrylic painting, oil painting, and what level they desire. I have to gauge on what level of experience the student has.

Then I provide a supply list, and brief written outline of what the class entails.

I have worked with students of many different ages and skill levels. I have taught at a private teaching gallery space, adult eduction, children in a school setting, college as well as a private students, and Michael's art stores.

I would suggest examining carefully what you want to do, then compare the various qualifications of the teachers available.

I attended the Robert Rauschenberg Residency for painting located in Captiva Island, Florida. I painted special projects at the studio of the late Robert Rauschenberg.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would say that decide basically what type of art does the student wish to pursue and be realistic about the requirements necessary to hire that particular type of teacher.
