About Art
My classes will take students through the fundamentals of drawing, beginning with an understanding of the materials and how to apply them to achieve skillful, artistic results. The lessons are taught at the students pace, with patience.
The reactions students have when they are able to see progress in their drawing ability. Self-confidence increases which leads to further exploration of other mediums. I have been teaching privately and publicly for over 20 years.
I wanted to pass my passion for drawing to those who have the same passion.
I have had some experience with college level art classes, but I am primarily a self-taught artist.

I like to find out about their past experiences with art lessons. Were they positive? Did they feel heard? Did they get the results they expected? These questions and more help me understand the student and any barriers we may need to work through before we start. From there I explain how the lessons will develop and answer any questions they might have.
I have worked with all age levels in various settings. Basically, age 6 on up through teenagers, young/middle adulthood, and Seniors. I've worked for Hobby Looby, Michaels, and in community college settings, as well as in-home private lessons.
Find someone who has a great deal of patience. It's a good idea to "interview" your teacher. Find out about how they have dealt with challenging students, what they expect from their students, how they measure student progress, etc.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should think through the time commitment that's involved and any scheduling conflicts that may arise. They should also consider the amount of available time they'll have to practice in between sessions.
