About Kevin

Diversity sets me apart from the pack. I have performance experience ranging from the worlds biggest rock festivals to intimate jazz clubs, and everything in between. I have taught adults at the internationally renowned Musicians Institute (in Hollywood) for 8 years. While at the same time, I have worked with middle school and high school kids as a guest clinician and instructor for LAUSD.

I have experience working with beginners all the way up to working professionals looking to fine ture their skills.

I enjoy watching students improve, reach goals, and discover things about the drums and themselves in the process.

B.A. in Jazz / Studio Music Performance
Graduated Magna Cum Laude

Studies include drumset, classical percussion, hand drumming, Brazilian and Haitian Drumming, piano, music theory, arranging, composition, and ensemble playing.

BIO

Based in Los Angeles, freelance drummer, bandleader and educator, Kevin Stevens has performed with a wide range of artists including Steve Jones, Duane Eddy, Marc Broussard, Minnie Driver, Beto Cuevas, Natasha Bedingfield, Gruff Rhys and many others while touring the globe and appearing on national TV (Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ellen Show, Late Late Show with James Corden, America’s Got Talent). He keeps busy in Los Angles freelancing, running his live entertainment company – Grits N Gravy Music, and teaching at Musicians Institute (PIT) in Hollywood and at his own studio.

About the lesson

Each student comes in with different abilities and goals. I ask a series of questions to find out where they are coming from and where they want to go.
