About Doug
Whether you're a drummer who is just starting out or one who has already cut their professional teeth, you're well aware of the physical demands drumming puts on your body. In addition to giving you a solid foundation in the fundamentals of reading, timekeeping, and technique, I also pay close attention to your body mechanics and your set up (ergonomics), which is essential to getting comfortable behind the kit. Let my 20 plus years as a drum instructor and personal trainer give you the relaxed facility to express yourself effortlessly.
I love working with drummers of all ages! And I see it as my job to get you so stoked about playing the kit that you'll accuse me of getting you addicted to drumming. And what's so bad about that? Seriously, the therapeutic benefits of drumming to elevate mood, improve fitness and to reduce stress and anxiety are well documented. I'd love to help you gain the necessary musical skills you need, as well as, help you broaden your musical perspective, and to feel stronger and healthier by showing you ways to a apply aspects of drumming fitness to your current lifestyle. No doubt, it requires discipline to play well and feel strong as a drummer. But if you reframe your idea of discipline as simply remembering what you love, well, you'll savor every minute of hard work you put into achieving your dream.
