About Marissa
Hello students!
My name is Marissa and I am interested in tutoring English. From grammar skills to AP Literature and college composition, English has always been my favorite and best subject. I received a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Communications at California State University, Bakersfield in 2017. I am currently a graduate student there and will earn a Master's degree in English and Writing Certificate May 2021. As your tutor, you can expect me to be reliable, have a flexible schedule, and to tutor with energy and enthusiasm!
I began tutoring when I went to Liberty High School and occassionally helped my peers in class at Bakersfield College and CSUB between 2014 and 2020.
My qualifications are the following:
1. Bachelor's of Arts degree in Communications, Masters in English with 100 units/credits and 4.0 GPA, member of CSUB English Club, Member of multiple honor societies (Sigma Tua Delta, Alpha Chi, Alpha Sigma Pi, and Lambda Pi Eta) and scholarship receipient (Mayor's, Dolores Cerro Coso, Ryan and Esmerelda Heynes)

My first process is I make introductions and let students know more about who I am and what they can expect from tutoring. My second process is to learn what skills or subjects the students needs the most help in. The final goal is to build rapor with the student as tutoring continues and learn how to talor lessons.
