About Eric
I am an MFA candidate in Creative Writing/Poetry at Northwestern University. I have a passion for helping others improve their writing and gain a greater appreciation for literature. I will help you to craft clear, logical, and structured essays/papers by listening and working closely with you to help you express your unique thoughts! I also provide help with analyzing literature, both big-picture ideas and small details.
My first experiences with education were during a summer camp I used to work at—I taught one-hour classes every day for each 3-week session on a range of topics (Creative Writing, Woodworking, Dune Exploration). I worked with students ages 8-18. As I entered my MFA program, I knew I wanted to continue to gain experience teaching. I completed a teaching seminar and have been looking for more experiences to help others learn since then.
I am a current MFA candidate in Creative Writing at Northwestern University. I have taken a seminar on Teaching Creative Writing, and I have real-world experience leading short writing courses online.

First, I like to speak with the student to get an idea of what they're working on, what they already excel at, and what needs improvement. I then create a plan for bridging this gap so we can work together to get the student from where they are to where they want to be.
I have worked with a wide range of students, from ages 8-18, college undergrads, and adult learners.
Look for someone who is willing to listen to you and take the time to get to know what your future goals are (getting a top grade on a paper, being accepted into a top university, writing a novel, etc.). Since writing is applicable to most opportunities, it is important for your teacher to understand how they can best help you to improve—real world applications that are individualized for every student!
