About Christine

With a Master of Science Degree in Global Studies and Internatiol Relations and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, I can offer your student the opportunity to gain in depth knowledge on research, reading, writing, geography and world issues at large. I have studied and taught internationally, and have a holistic approach to education and learning, favoring a contextual and complete look at events and the conditions under which they are created. I currently work as a substitute teacher in Northern California, and have previously worked as a tutor, both in the US and abroad. I have taught English (writing & reading,) Social Studies, and English as a Second Lanuage. .

I love teaching because it offers the opportunity to contribute to the collective knowledge of the world while also being able to positively effect the lives and long term success of individuals. It is work that I find satisfying and enjoyable, whether it is helping an unfocused 1st grade student learn to love spending time reading, or a senior in high school confidently submitting a final paper for their World History course.

With a strong research background in the Sciences, I have educational experience in every subject that I teach, and I am constantly working to improve my strategies and give students my absolute best.

About the lesson

Once I have an idea of what areas they are looking for assistance with, I usually ask to take a look at a few samples of their previous work, and notes or assignment sheets from other teachers. I will also consult the curriculum being used for the class, when available. If necessary I may administer an assessment of my own, to get a clear idea of weaknesses and strengths, as well as personal goals for the student. I will then create an individualized guidance and study plan, utilizing my time with the student to give context, engage fully with the subject and handle immediate concerns. I will also assign reading, film and study guides to utilize at other times to maximize their preparation and learning.

Details

Initial Assessment and Study Plan Development: $150

Hourly Rate: $30

Last Minute Session (Per Hour:) $40

If you do not wish for a individualized and customized Study Plan, the Initial Assesment will be charged at the normal hourly rate and will be considered a session.

If you have unique need, such as intensive long-term educational assistance for a student, feel free to message me and we can discuss options and pricing. :)
