About Gabriela
I have a passion for helping kids and students succeed in all areas of education. I am currently a high school Junior, heading toward my senior year. During my high school I have taken 8 AP Classes, have passed all the corresponding exams for my grade level, and am planning on taking another 5 AP Classes next school year. I am incrdibly excited to work with you!

I have always had a passion for explaining things to other people and watching their eyes light up when something finally clicks and they realize they are absolutely capable of performing whatever task in whatever subject they thought they would never understand. In college, I plan to pursue a degree in Education with a focus on High School Education.
I am a junior in high school but have taken many rigorous courses and have experience with college level classes. As a tutor, I have volunteered with different online programs that have provided training and curriculum aong with my work in general as a private tutor over the years.

I generally begin by establishing what the student already knows in order to figure out what areas I need to reinforce the most. Once I know this, I begin to teach the student the main ideas of each lacking area while continually reviewing the student's strong areas and what we learn as we go, to ensure that the student has completely grasped the subject and does not forget it as time goes on.
Generally, I have worked with elementary-aged children profesionally. However, I often work alongside students my age (high school) in an informal setting, simply helping each other understand the subject at hand. Nonetheless, I am excited and ready to work with people of all ages, from the youngest child to adults.
I don't really have any one area of expertise but I really believe that any tutor needs to have genuine care for the student's education. It is easy to explain concepts and ideas to another person, however, not everyone necessarily cares that the student understand and be confident in his/her abilities as a student.
I recently began tutoring a boy in Chile and I am helping him learn English via Zoom. The other day, his mom sat down with me for a few minutes to express her gratitude and excitement that her son was showing great progress and confidence in the English language. Hearing this absolutely made my day!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think it's really important that the student take a moment and collect themselves. It's really easy to get nervous and take the easy way out when a conversation doesn't go the way we planned in our heads so planning out what the student needs and outlining a plan of action that would best benefit the student beforehand is a really good idea. That way, the teacher can take those ideas and figure out how to best help the student, rather than guess what the student wants/needs and hope for the best. Communication is key!
