About Cynthia

I love to teach aspiring fiction writers the art of crafting a story they can publish within any genre. Whether they want to write mystery, fantasy, romance, or thrillers, the fundamentals of writing a novel and getting it published are just a few things I can help a writer achieve.

I teach the ins and outs of marketing books, building an author platform, building a mailing list, and finding the right covers that market to the specific genre a client writes within.

I also offer developmental edits and line edits for writers. This process teaches a writer important story elements such as plot and structure, dialogue, character arc, setting, pacing, and orchestration.

I also enjoy teaching students better English, grammar, and punctuation skills.

I've been an author, publisher, and editor for over five years. I'm a USA Today bestselling author, a multi-award winning author, and a YouTuber. I enjoy teaching folks how to wreit, edit, publish, and market their books on my YouTube channel.

I love the people I work with. I've tutored teens and adults on a variety of projects, and each project is different and unique, which means the work is never boring. I love the excitement teens bring to a project, especially when things click and they begin to understand the fundamentals of crafting an engaging story.

I became a student first. I joined several writing groups, attended conferences, and published my first novel in 2015. Since then I have continued my education in the writing and publishing industry.

I'm a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association, the American Night Writers Association, Indie Authors Unite, and several critique groups. I've worked with writers on Clarity, Upwork, and received special requests from clients who found me from my YouTube channel.

I attend two writer's conferences every year to hone my skills. I also teach classes at these writer's conferences.

About the lesson

I first start by assessing what their needs are and what their goals are. Some clients simply need help with an essay. Others need help with structuring a novel. Then I assess their understanding of basic English, grammar, and punctuation. I take a look at what they are working on. I go over that to see how advanced they are in the writing process, analyzing which fundamentals need to be addressed.

I've worked with teens, college students, and folks who want to quit their day jobs to become full-time writers.

Make sure they can not only teach you how to craft an intriguing story, but that they understand what it takes to get your story packaged and marketed. You should be able to share your creativity with the world.

I attended the ANWA conference and learned a new process for outlining a romance novel. I have enjoyed implementing this process in my own writing while teaching it to others.

Details

For developmental or line edits I charge .02 cents per word. For copy edits and proofreading I charge .01 cent per word.

For a quick assessment of a project of 5,000 words or less, I charge $100. This includes the assessment and time spent going over the suggestions and edits with them.

If someone simply needs coaching and consultations, I charge $65 an hour.

I'm always happy to negotiate prices based on need, and I create payment plans for clients if they are interested.
