About Adrean

Arise and shine parents! I am Teacher Adrean, I am experienced with passion and techniques that will reach and teach your student that experiences challenges in the classroom and perhaps in some unstructured settings as well as social gatherings. With a mother's heart and a teacher's skill set I am equipped to reach early learners with challenges and disabilities.

As a parent with a bleeding heart at a point of frustration, I faced the slope of desperation knowing and believing my child could do more despite the failing grades and teacher comments. I remember every conference and teacher recommendations for my daughter, then 2nd grade. The School system was geared up toward developing an EIP/IEP for the Special Education program.

I agreed that alternative solution was needed but to first exhaust all methods and offer a solution to be delivered in the General Education population. My observation was that often times isolating the student in a self-contained setting causes further stagnation and wider academic developmental delay. An isolated track within the school system ends with a certificate of attendance rather than a general education diploma; and that was not the preferred or best option. Have you exhausted all options before agreeing to place your child on a track that he/she will not receive a general education diploma at graduation. In my personal situation I identified there were some gaps that caused my daughter quite a few challenges. But these gaps could be filled, we were not without hope. I knew I needed a plan and that plan was to bridge her gaps that would help rebound her to grade level. Efforts that could be maintained with supplements, techniques and modifications.

As parent, I took lead, made career changes and joined the educational school system. I joined as a provisional certified Special Education Teacher working with self-contained student population. I was not only there for my daughter but now for all other students.

I taugh self-contained students. My students' records and IEPs were identified as Emotional Behavior Disordered. My classroom roster consisted of 15+ students diagnosed with Bi-polar, Schizophrenia, Manic Depression, ADD, ADHD. All 15 were self-contained identified as early as early as their 2nd grade. I taught sixth grade through eighth for all subjects (Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies).

We created structure, taught disciplines, self-monitoring and motivating techniques. We developed principles of respect and honor that would transfer in all settings and throughout life. I kept them engaged and empowered each of them to become their best self, academically and socially! My biggest accomplishments is there 8th grade transition into co-teaching classroom models.

Their successful transition into General Ed population is my proven record of the students promotion to high school on the General Education Diploma track. Also, I gratefully provide an update on my daughter, now 24 years old, is a Registered Nurse. I didn't give up then and I won't give up now. The same methods I used in elementary are the same we applied in college.

Great News!! All students do learn, they just all apprehend, comprehend and process differently. Different doesn't mean bad nor does it mean wrong.

My service provided is not a cookie- cutter program. I am here to reach and teach your student and tailor his/her learning reinforcement program to best accommodate. With a mother's heart and a teacher's skill set I am equipped to reach early age learners from elementary through middle school.
