About Morgan

Hello everyone! My name is Morgan Dykes, and I am a senior studying neuroscience, chemistry, and women and gender studies on the pre-medical tract at Mercer University.

Due to a heavy STEM courseload at college, I love to spend my extra hours tutoring everyone from grade school to college in writing!

I was a paid tutor in writing/English at my university's Academic Resource Center for the past two years, and I loved getting to see that "lightbulb" moment when I helped tutees understand a challenging concept.

I always strive to keep the tutoring atmosphere open and empathetic. Writing is difficult and there is absolutely nothing wrong with acknowledging weaknesses and asking for help. Reaching out is the hardest part!

My goal is to help you become more confident in your writing skills. I am here to be your guide and shine some light on those weird, subtle rules that you may not have learned in the classroom.

We're all in this together!

I started tutoring in high school when I had some extra free time and fell in love with helping others gain more confidence in such a difficult subject! Many students think they are simply "not good writers" but that is far from the truth.

A little direction and a drive to improve and you'll be all set!

About the lesson

I love to start tutoring sessions off with asking where the student is specifically struggling and what I can do for them. I am here to help, and I want to make sure I understand what the student needs. Asking students about past grades on essays as well as teacher/professor expectations help me offer specific, effective advice.

My sessions are all about letting the student take the driver's seat. In my experience, students learn best when they play a very active role in the session!

I have worked with elementary school aged children all the way up to college! I even have gotten some non-traditional college students that were in their 30s or 40s and going back to school. I love working with people of all ages.
