About Carla

I'm Teacher Carla from Metro Manila. I was born and raised here in the Philippines. I graduated with Bachelor of Arts in English degree from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. I have a 4-year experience of teaching English as a second language to Korean professionals and young adults. I have done more than 120 hour of certified ESL Ttraining. In my class, I make sure that my approach and methods are taylor fit to my students needs. As much as possible, I encorporate ESL activities and excercises that are engaging and fun. I believe that a relaxed atmosphere is the key to effective learning. I specialize in vocabulary, pronunciation and practical use of language in everyday settings. I also use interactive methods to help students improve their listening and speaking skills. Im passionate about teaching. I make the most of that passion in helping people reach their personal and professional goals. It really fills me with happiness and satisfaction to see my students, no matter what their nationality or culture is, succeed in their endeavor to learn effective English communication.

Teaching has been my career since I was in high school. I offered one-on-one tutorial services to my friends and their family members especially kids. I continued doing it even after I graduated from college until I decided to get a regular teaching job with a Korean company.

I'm a graduate of Bachelor of Arts in English. I have taken more than 120 hours of ESL training in 2014 with my first ESL company. I have also completed more than 300 hours of American English pronunciation program with Rachel's English also under my former company's training program. I have a total of 4 years ESL teaching experience, wherr most of my students were Korean young adults and professionals.

About the lesson

Building rapport by getting to know the student on the first day of class is crucial to making a comfortable learning environment. Instead of simply telling the student to tell something about himself/herself, I ask specific and engaging questions like, "How do you learn the most?", "What makes it easy for you to remember things in the class?", "What do you do to relax or unwind after a busy day?" After hearing the answers to these questions and having a small talk about these topics, I'm more confident to start the lesson proper. By this time I already know what kind of learner my current student is so I can customize my teaching style to maximize learning experience.

My students ranged from as young as 4 years old up to 70 plus years old. But most of them were young adults and professionals. So that range falls under 18-40 years old.

Find someone who will always go the extra mile of finding the most effective way for you to learn ESL. This means dynamic teaching methods that corresponds to your current need for learning ESL. You will know this if the teacher takes time to know you better and your situation before jumping into any lesson for the sake of conducting and finishing the class.

I attended a virtual convention with Jehovah's Witnesses last July 2021. Some of my students were also there enjoying the programs in their own mother tongue. It was a rewarding experience despite the pandemic. Each part of the program was filled with hope-inspiring talks, interviews and realistic reenactment of events. I especially will never forget the short film about the prophet Daniel and how he humbly fulfilled God's will in every aspect of his life from being a young boy up until his old age. I learned so much and restored my faith at a degree I can't describe.

Yes, I do. I charge per 10 or 20-minute class. $2 per 10-minute class and $3.75 per 20-minute class. I also have monthly packages that come with discounts and promos. I have my pricelist on my fb page which is very easy to access.
