About David
I am a recent college graduate from San Jose State University, my degree is in biology and I have been in the education field since 2014.
For Middle/High school: I have no problem engaging with students getting to know them. I know how to establish a friendship with students, but also know how to draw the line between educator and student. I do more than just helping students with homework. I create check for understanding maps to be sure that students understand the material and can replicate it multiple times.
I enjoy being able to engage students. I love being able to make an impact on students lives and see that look in a students eyes when they finally undertstand a topic.
In college, I lead review sessions for students. I would lecture and condense lessons given by the head profesor and I would also make practice exams for review.
Ever since I had started college (in 2014) I have been involved in High school and Middle school education. I interned for for Mt. Pleasant high school and The Foundation for Hispanic education. My responsibilities were to tutor in Math and Science and help students with the college education process. At my current job, I serve as a Math support teacher for low performing students and as a Science teacher for Alpha Public School (5th-8th).

My typical process is to first get to know the student. Find out their hobbies, what they do in their spare time, what subjects they need help in, and what they are passionate about. I find doing this establishes a relationship and make the student more comfortable to make mistakes and learn from them.
