About Andrew
After spending four years teaching English, History, and Philosophy at three premier secondary schools in Asheville, Indiana, and the Middle East, I'm looking to bring my global perspective and extensive experience to students in Knoxville. Whether online or in person, I can push students to thrive as critical thinkers, lovers of learning, and successful test-takers. I give each of my students my utmost attention, investing in the relationship as a way to ensure their life-long achievement!
I love working with students. I knew from a young age that my passion for learning would merge with my fire for empowering others. I value the relationships that I form and love watching my students light up with a love for learning.
I am an English major from Davidson College who graduated near the top of my class in 2017. I taught 10th grade Humanities at Culver Academies, a premier boarding school in Indiana.
I then moved to Amman, Jordan, where I taught Humanities to middle school students. I focused my curriculum on writing, reading, and critical thinking skills. We talked about philosophy, history, and literature. I loved introducing my students to the great questions of humanity!

When I first meet a student, I want to hear from them about what they want out of tutoring. I do not want to impose my vision on them, but I want students to feel as though they are in control of their own learning process. Then, I can create a personalized curriculum to guide them towards their goals.
I have worked with all types of students! I began working with high schoolers of all backgrounds and experiences before working with Middle Eastern students with varying degrees of English proficiency and a range of individual learning needs.
