About Andie
Kids can be cruel and the academic curriculum these days is without a doubt rigorous. Not to mention, kids around that age are just starting to develop their identities, interests, hobbies, and passions. There are so many factors as to why classwork may seem more difficult. My style of tutoring comes from a place of understanding not only the assigned material but your student’s mental state. If your student doesn’t understand something when I explain it in a certain way, I can explain it in another way. Something beautiful about English is that it's a language. That means it can be used to communicate with one another. There are so many different practical ways to explain something verbally, visually, or even audibly. I’m passionate and will do everything in my power to make sure your child succeeds.

Currently taking a break from college due to financial complications. I will be going back to California State University - Los Angeles Honors College to pursue my career in English & Education during the Summer of 2022.
My day job is an After-School Program Leader
I started tutoring kids with learning disabilities when I was sixteen through one of the Missions I volunteered at while living in Utah. The look on a kid's face when they finally understand it and can do it on their own is so precious. Knowing I was a part of that, gives me a joy that cannot be matched by anything else.
I used to tutor kids with learning disabilities when I lived in Utah and I am currently an after-school program leader for one of the local high schools in my area.

I like to get to know a bit about the studnet. Their hobbies, interests to let them know that I genuinly care. I usually ask questions about their least faviorite and favorite classes to gain a general understanding of what their acdemic strengths are.
Find a teacher who gets you. Some teaching styles dont mesh well with the way you're going to learn and that's okay. But it's important that you find someone that does or is at the very least willing to try and work with you.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Have some ideas of what accomodations could be helpful to you at school. Most teachers want to see their students succeed in the classroom and beyond. Having an idea of what might work for you (Ex: extra test-taking time, fidget toys, a quiet space) can help a teacher create a safer, more accessible learning enviornment.
