About Michael

Hello there. I have been a public school teacher for over 10 years and an academic tutor after that. I have experience with a wide variety of learners, including those with ADHD and learning differences. I enjoy working one-on-one with students so I can monitor their progress and see their growth. I also enjoy finding the individual learning style of the student and teaching in a way that they can better learn.

I have a bachelor's degree from UCLA and 3 teaching credentials from CSUN.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve academic success!

I enjoy seeing students improve their skills and their grades, as that means we have worked hard and they are "getting it."

I have always had a passion for writing and literature. I figured that the best way to utilize these skills was to teach it.

In my own tutoring practice, I quickly realized that too many students were doing poorly in math and that to be more successful, I should tutor math as well. So I added this subject to my repertoire and my expertise is in elementary math through pre-algebra.

I have 3 teaching credentials from Cal Sate Northridge and a bachelor's degree from UCLA.

I have had over 10 years of teaching experience and many years after that of tutoring experience.

About the lesson

When you contact me, I will give you a free phone consultation to discuss your child's tutoring goals and needs and to set-up the first appointment. You can ask me questions about me and the service as well.

I have worked with students from the elementary grades through college. Much of my experience has been with struggling learners and those with ADHD.

I would speak with the teacher if possible and make sure there is good rapport--meaning that the teacher and student can relate well with each other. I would also want to make sure that the teacher is passionate about the subject matter, as that passion will transer over into the lessons.

I recently worked with a student on his college admission essays and just found out that he was accepted to a major college, a Tier 1 school among national universities.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should be honest and tell the teacher exactly what the issue is they are struggling with. If their grade is in jeopardy, they can ask the teacher what they have to do to be successful in that particular class.

Rates depend on the grade level of the student and the content, e.g., what we are doing. Generally, the online rate is $17 for a 45-minute session for elementary students and slightly higher for middle school and high school students.
