About Stephanie

As a younger teacher, with experience, my technology skills make me stand out as a desired tutor through these unprecedented times. Education is different than it's ever been and it's a learning path we've all had to hop on together. I'm confident I can be of excellent value to any student struggling right now through this rollercoaster year. Writing is my passion and I can be of huge help to anyone struggling in the area of English Language Arts or even grade specific social studies areas. I have strategies outlined and writing models I follow that have proven time and time again to work well with my students.

It is truly my passion. There is no better feeling than being able to watch that frustration and misunderstanding turn into excitement and response.

It's always been a passion of mine to watch the lightbulb go off in someone's head when they finally have something click. I love writing and reading and it's something I've just always felt good at. Working with children is like the ultimate plus because they make every day different and new.

I'm an English Language Arts Middle School teacher in Queens, New York. I have been working there for two years and also worked in Clarke High School in East Meadow, New York for a year prior. I have my Masters degree from SUNY Old Westbury and my Bachelors from Towson University.

About the lesson

I like to get to know where they stand before working on skills or techniques. Every student is different and every student is going to therefore, appreciate a different approach. There's no one right way to do things, especially when it comes to ELA. I want to know what the student feels they have strong skills in and where they feel they struggle. It's also so crucial to understand the student on a personal level. What interests do they hold, what connections can I make that they will best understand.

Middle school and high school students of all backgrounds.

There needs to be a connection; a sense of trust. If you don't feel comfortable around the teacher looking to help you, you might want to find someone else you can work with that lets you feel more at ease.
