About Abigail
Welcome to my little piece of the internet! I'm delighted that, out of the 4.54 billion pages on the internet, you somehow stumbled upon mine.
While you're here, I'd love to be your host and tell you my story.
So sit down by my crackling fire, pull a blanket around your knees, wrap your hands around an oversized mug of hot chocolate, and read up.
When I was young, I was homeschooled. I also traveled to 90 countries with my family (and counting)! I used to hate writing. When my mom would give me programs to learn from, I'd put them off as long as possible. In fact, I can even remember throwing a couple fits when I was forced to do them. So... what changed?
Quite frankly? My mentors changed me.
My mom was a professional blogger, many of my friends were published authors, and I knew lots of people who were writing stories or doing something to express themselves with words. After some time, I started wondering if, maybe, writing wasn't so bad. And years later, I'm almost a published author, and I'm making it my goal to teach as many people the magic that words possess.
It would be my pleasure, delight, and absolute joy to teach you how to successfully use words for the rest of your life.
I've been a freelance writer for over a year, my first book is being published by Barnes and Noble in May of 2020, and I've just finished the first draft of my second book. Writing is my passion, and I'd be delighted to help you heighten your game to impress your friends, get your grades up, get into a good school, write your own book, or any other reason you might have.
I've got 5 younger siblings, all (except the youngest two) of whom I've helped learn to read. This was especially true because we were all homeschooled, and being the oldest gave me an opportunity to prove myself as a teacher. They now love reading, and one is even writing his own book.
Helping students understand the fundamentals of the profoundly intricate language we call English is possibly the most rewarding thing I've done. Doing such a thing opens up another world to a young, eager learner: the world of words. And when that world becomes available, that's when the magic starts to happen.
You have no idea how happy it would make me to see a message from you in my inbox. If you're serious about learning English, grammar, phonics, or writing, make my day and contact me. You won't regret it! :)
I enjoy so much about tutoring, but I think my favorite thing has to be the smile on a student's face when they finally get something that they've been struggling with. It's a magical feeling.
I've just published my first book with Barnes and Nobles, and it's available for pre-order on Amazon right now.
I've also written the first draft of my second book, which I'm planning to publish in 2021.
I've taken multiple classes on writing, and I did honors English all throughout highschool.

I like to get to know students a bit more intimately before working on the subject at hand. For the first lesson, I like to spend about 15 minutes talking about what makes them tick, and what they like to do. This allows me to tailor my lessons to the student, instead of using a one size fits all formula.
I've worked with one student who, as far as I could tell, was probably a genius. I swear, if he had been tested, he would have been way up there. At times I wondered if I was even qualified to teach him.
He'd wander around when he solved problems, and he wouldn't sit still. And he hated writing. But, with patience, I earned his respect. Little by little, and each time we'd start our writing hour, he'd get frustrated.
But, each time, I'd kindly redirect him. By the end of our month together, he was looking forward to writing.
I've had other students like him, but he was by far the most extreme.
If your teacher claims to love reading, writing, or grammar, they better use proper grammar in their profile. I also like to ask them what their favorite book quote is.
By the way... mine is, "My life is a perfect graveyard of buried hopes." - Anne of Green Gables

My son Cooper really loved Abigail, and his love for writing increased significantly even in just the 3 weeks that they worked together. I'd recommend her highly!
