About Elexis

Unfortunately, anxiety and other emotional issues have been on the rise for students across the country. Your child not only needs a tutor, but a kind mentor who can calmly guide them through their academic obstacles while imparting important coping skills. With a background in child therapy and a very warm attitude, I have been able to help students improve their emotional and academic well-being simultaneously. Using executive function coaching techniques and therapeutic interventions, I enable my students to stay calm and focused. At the same time, you can expect that we will be doing hands-on work that will help your child succeed academically. By taking a holistic approach, I hope to give your child a love of learning that lasts for years to come.

I am a graduate student with three years of experience tutoring and over 500 hours of experience delivering therapy. I graduated from Forbes' 2015 #1 college in the United States (currently ranked as Forbes' and Niche's 2020 #1 Liberal Arts College). I work with students aged 8-19, offering tutoring for all middle school subjects and tutoring in high school English, SAT prep, and college planning. I would be happy to answer any questions you have!

About the lesson

I believe working slowly and intentionally will yield the best results. When I am working with a new student, I take time to get to know them as a person so that I can understand their many strengths and build upon those. It is very important for me to maintain a warm and non-judgmental relationship with my students, as it allows them to tell me where they are struggling. I usually take a few weeks to build rapport and figure out which type of session structure would best benefit your student. Over time, our sessions become more routine, which allows me to push students to go deeper in a seamless way. Throughout the process, I like to stay in contact with the child's teacher and caregivers to ensure we are all seeing progress.

Details

For middle school and elementary school tutoring, my rate is $100/hour. High school tutoring and college prep is $120/ hour, and SAT prep is $150/hour. I travel to my students, but these fees do not apply to my commute time.
