About Izzy

Hi! My name is Izzy. I'm currently a first-year going on second-year student at UC Santa Barbara, primarily studying English, Art History, and Communication. My passion for writing allowed me to maintain near-perfect grades throughout high school and college (so far), and score in the 99% percentile for SAT reading/writing. I received a 5 on my AP English exam and 4's on my AP History exams. I would like to explore potential career options in editing and journalism, which I believe could be supplemented by tutoring others. If you're looking to cultivate your creative writing skills through poetry, or are planning on diving deep into the world of argumentative writing, I would love to help. Even if you're simply trying to boost your grades and/or test scores in all levels of analytical writing, do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to getting to know my students in order to truly bring out their best writing voices.

I have always assisted my peers in editing, but I have never tutored for pay. I hope to find a career in editing and/or journalism, and tutoring seems like an axcellent place to start.

I am an entry-level tutor, but I have college-level experience and high test scores/grades to attest to my abilities.

About the lesson

I typically start with getting to know the student in terms of their writing voice and learning style. Then, I help the student grow in a curated way that allows to them to develop their strengths and patch up their weaknesses.

I have worked with students from elementary school all the way to college-level.

I would advise the student to be 100% themselves, as writing is a personal feat that can only be aided by staying true to one's self.

In regards to my writing, I loved working on a creative writing piece for my art history class that blended both fictional and non-fictional elements to create an intricate 7-page storyline. In general, I have loved spending my time enjoying nature in Joshua Tree and cultivating my cooking skills.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should pinpoint areas in which they are struggling instead of asking the tutor to "figure it out." Recognizing weakness is the first step in growth.
