About Sumyat
I have had a wealth of experience in teaching and tutoring for more than a decade. I approach tutoring as a student-centered conversation and learning opportunity where I listen to your learning needs and help you figure out tools and strategies to make progress in what you are learning or writing. I started tutoring since high school and worked in writing center tutoring as a seasoned tutor during college. I started teaching my own courses which involved from curriculum design to assessment during graduate school.

I listen first to the student what kind of project they are working on, how they have approached it so far, what kind of issues they might be encountering, and what kind of help and conversation the student would like to have with me. I then look at the student's work, ask clarifying questions, and approach it as a collaborative conversation and learning where I help students come up with tools and strategies to address the writing/learning issues they are working through.
