About BoE

Individuals that elect to interact with me shall be dealing with a lifelong learner and an entrepreneur. I know the significance of language, of reading and comprehension, of persuasive writing, of vocabulary, spelling, proofreading, editing and developing the art of learning.

Why are those aspects significant??? Simply because those skills represent a HUGE arsenal for success...personally and professionally. The "work" to which I have aspired is not a "job;" assisting others in developing their language skill set is much more to me: it is a meaningful purpose! Contributing my time to remind learners that we all possess the ability to reprogram our minds towards higher heights through the love of learning provides me with HUGE satisfaction because knowledge is POWER...and that power will advance all of us closer to our individual and very rewarding destinations.

Because of my sincere disappointment at witnessing the lack of interest in reading and basic literacy among the majority of college students who were also my classmates, I began coaching them in English, reading, comprehension, using a dictionary, essay writing, and developing their own unique style of communicating.

Listening to their voice and concerns

Closely reviewing their specific assignments and identifying their goals

Learners of all ethnicities and ages but, more recently, high school and college students who seem to be in great need (more than likely due to the interruption caused by the virus) of recapturing almost two years of lost time involving their reading, writing, comprehension and other matters relating to English.

It is my opinion that it is essential to speak with a tutor in order to gain a sense of their nature, personality, intentions, and to identify if there is chemistry between both parties. There is much to be learned and felt by the sound of and the delivery of a person's voice.

There was an experience with a few high school students with whom I had the joy of helping them help themselves. By getting them into the practice of reading aloud to each other as if they were actors reading a script (sort of taking on the character of what they were reading) and then notating a few lines to explain what they had gotten out of the reading, that creative exercise turned out to be quite a humorous and fun way of learning to read and comprehend the essence of what they had read.  By becoming the words, by reading aloud, they embodied the content and had better recall of the subject matter.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It would be helpful if a student would be totally candid about what their specific goals are; provide a sample of their writing as well as any particular assignment about which they are seeking assistance.
