About Erica

Hi. My name is Erica Moody. I am married and have a grown daughter and have been an educator and care provider for children for more than 30 years. Currently I am employed as a special educator with more than 20 years of experience working in a high school with students of all ability levels. I specialize in working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Social/Emotional/Behavioral Disorders, Specific Learning Disabilities included issues in reading, writing and math. I have taught at both the elementary and high school levels. Most recently I have taught high school English and Grammar, Basic Math, Consumer and Business Math, and Pre-Algebra, Earth Science, Biology, Physics and US History, World History and American Government. I have also assisted students with Health, Social Skills, Life Skills, Career Exploration, a variety of elective courses and have even co-taught German 1.

I am licensed as a general special educator in both New Hampshire and Vermont. I hold a license as a director of special education in both New Hampshire and Vermont. I am CPR/First Aid Certified. I am trained in CPI and Handle with Care.

I hold both an associates degree and a bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science from Granite State College, a Master's degree in Special Education from Keene State College and am soon to complete my Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership from Plymouth State University in the Spring of 2021.

I am currently employed and working from home and would welcome opportunities to work online with students throughout the day and more importantly from 3 - 9 pm Monday through Friday and am available most weekends too.

If you have a child who is struggling to work remotely, needs a bit of extra help and practice in a particular subject or just needs help getting motivated and organized, I'm here to help. Just give me a call and we can sit down and see just what I can offer in the way of services. My fee begins at $35.00 per hour and is negotiable depending on the number of hours per week you hire me for.

I started teaching in 1998. My first position was a paraprofessional in an elementary school in New Hampshire in a combined 3/4 class. I then moved to Vermont and accepted a paraprofessional position in a high school within an intensive needs behavioral program. While working their I completed my degree and then went on to run an Autism Program at a New Hampshire public high school for about four years. An opportunity arouse for me to return to the high school I was a para at in Vermont and I accepted the teaching position in 2009 and have been there ever since.

I have been an educator for more than 20 years in both New Hampshire and Vermont. Most of my experience is with high school aged students. I have taught in person as well as asynchronously and synchonously on line using Google Classroom, Moodle, Canvas and am familiar with most curricula that schools are using in this area.

About the lesson

I like to get the opportunity to build a relationship with my students. I begin by getting to know them, their needs, their struggles, and start off by building a rapport with them.

Usually we sit down and chat for about 15 - 30 minutes and do some icebreaker activities. Once we have had a chance to do that, then the work begins. We review what they need to accomplish, set timelines for work completion, review the assignments together and I help to ensure that they have an understanding of the material before proceeding futher.
