About Colleen

I am a private tutor. I have been teaching first grade for sixteen years. I specialize in the Orton-Gollingham method of teaching reading and spelling. This is an individualized multi-sensory approach to reading and spelling. If your child is struggling or you just want your child to stay on track, I can help.

I truly love teaching children to read and watching their eyes light up when they realize, “I’m doing it, I’m reading”.

I worked in daycare and babysat when I was younger. I realized I loved working with kids and wanted to become a teacher. I was a substitute and an aide. I’ve now been working in the same school full time as a first grade teacher and have been there for sixteen years.

About the lesson

I will begin with an initial evaluation. From there, I will create an individualized plan to meet the needs of your child.

I’ve worked with underachieving, average, and overachieving students. I’ve worked with students with behavioral and emotional difficulty. I’ve also worked with students with disabilities. I’m always looking for ways to help each and every child succeed.

Think about what that students needs and if the tutor can help him or her meet those needs.
