About Linda
I teach all styles of flute from jazz to classical.
I am an expert on the entire flute family from bass to piccolo.
Teaching in the Irving public schools for 28 years gives me a great knowledge of student's learning styles.
I perform throughout the metroplex as a free lance musician.
I love music and have been playing and performing since I was six years old. Music is a great language for communicating and learning. My students have been successful in music and I have fostered a love for music and learning.
I started teaching piano to friends when I was still in high school and taught flute during college.
I am a certified K-12 Texas Music Specialist with a degree from Texas State University and 29 years experience in a music classroom.

About the lesson

First, I address the level of knowledge and ability the student already possesses. After that, we start on a fun solo and maybe duets. Scales and exercises are assigned based on the ability level of each student.
Elementary to adult.
Amature to professional.
Find a teacher that understands your musical goals.
Some students want to perform and some just want to play for their own enjoyment.
I do not push students in either direction. Music is a personal choice.
I recently played in the Dallas Wind Symphony piccolo concert for the world record. We performed at the Meyerson and will be listed in the Guinness World Book of Records. Pitch was not great but it was a fun experience :>)
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Decide how much time an energy you want to dedicate to your instrument. Eveyone has a different level of interest and dedication to music and a student must decide how they want to proceed. Some students want to play with friends and family while other students strive for a higher level of music education and performance.

Details
$75 per hour paid in advance. Students pay by the month.
Lessons are usually 1/2 hour in duration. Some students can take a one hour lesson if they are advanced.
