About Alex

How did I get started? By the end of high school my body was done with allowing me to play sports. I did not want to be done. So by the end of my freshman year in collage, as an Mechanical Engineering major, I switched my focus to Athletic Training and Physical Education. It has all been a dream since then.

I have been in the field of health, fitness and athletics for over 25 years. On one side of the ball or the other I have nearly seen it all. Everything from coaching team sports and training athletes of all ages and levels, to improving the quality of life for "Baby-boomers", and those with limited abilities. For the last 15 years I have been a Personal Trainer, as well as Manager for very successful team of Personal Trainers, for a large gym chain.

About the lesson

First and foremost there needs to be chemistry and respect, because the students / athletes goals become my goals. We work as a team. To succeed as a team we need to have good, if not great, chemistry and a high level of respect for one another. With that said, evaluations come first. Regardless of the objective, we need to know where we are starting from so we can plan out how we are going to get to where we want to be. Trust when I say "we'll get there".

Youth to Professional athletes, of many sports.

Seniors, with and without health concerns.

Those with either muscle gain or fat lose goals.

Ages from 8 to 80.

As I stated earlier, there has to be good chemistry and respect. If seeing each other doesn't excite you and get your energy up, how likely are you to skip out? If there is no respect, would you really be willing to allow yourself to be pushed and challenged? Find someone you are willing to work for, and in return they will work for you.

Most recently a client had her husband start training with me virtually. He has a knee issue from trail running and a shoulder issue due to kayaking. By the fourth week of following the plan we set up for him, which means he was diligent about doing his homework (workouts) on his own, he had little to no discomfort in his shoulder and knee. He is back to the occasional kayak, and bikes 15-20 miles several times a week. Now she says that she has a coworker and her husband that would like to start training too. A referral is the best form of compliment.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
All of the above questions fill in so many blanks, but one thing I personally feel gets over looked is whether the teacher sounds and physical appears to be genuine. So many can come across as the greatest sales person on day one, but afterwards are delivering cookie cutter workouts and are easily distracted. I have always said that if I wanted to be rich I would have become an engineer, but I would not be a happy as I have been.
