About Debby

Hi! I'm a math tutor with several years of experience working with students from Year 1 to Year 12. I’ve personally gone through the Australian school system, including the OC, Selective, NAPLAN, and HSC exams, so I understand what it’s like to face those challenges firsthand. I started tutoring because I enjoy helping others make sense of math—especially when it feels confusing or overwhelming. It's incredibly rewarding to see students have that “lightbulb” moment when something finally clicks. My goal is to create a supportive space where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing their skills at their own pace. While I’m not pursuing teaching as a long-term career, I take tutoring seriously and treat every lesson with care and professionalism. I believe every student can succeed with the right guidance and support.

About the lesson

I take a calm and practical approach to tutoring, with a focus on helping students build confidence and improve their understanding of key math concepts. I adapt my teaching to suit each student’s pace and learning style—whether they need help catching up, want to strengthen their foundational skills, or are preparing for assessments. Techniques and Teaching Methodology: I prioritize clear explanations, step-by-step problem solving, and plenty of guided practice. I help students break down questions, understand patterns, and apply strategies that make math less intimidating and more manageable. I also encourage regular revision to support long-term retention. Typical Lesson Length: Lessons usually run for 60 minutes. This gives students time to ask questions, review content, practice skills, and check their understanding without feeling rushed. Qualifications and Experience: While I don’t have a formal teaching degree, I have several years of tutoring experience and have worked with students from Year 1 through to Year 12 (Standard Mathematics). Having personally completed the Australian HSC system, I’m also familiar with the structure and expectations of NAPLAN, OC, and Selective School exams, which helps me guide students preparing for these milestones with insight and clarity. Who My Lessons Are For: I work with students from primary through to high school (Years 1–12). My lessons are suitable for those who want to build confidence, improve test results, or need extra support to keep up with classwork and exam preparation.
