About Craig

Before becoming a teacher, I served in government. Before becoming a teacher, I worked for social justice. Before becoming a teacher, I worked for civil rights. I serve students with real and practical history and government so students are able to understand the world we live in and how even just a small group of people can change history.

I am a licensed social studies teacher that has:

- worked for the federal government,

- worked on campaigns to protect civil rights,

- worked academically on US history.

I dared myself to take a step to help make change. I work to help others learn that too.

I really enjoy working with students to understand how social studies plays into our communities. Teaching students how people, their communites, and their cultures blend into one another and have throughout history and help us to understand how people interact is a critical component in a student's education.

As a high school student, I had a difficult time staying quiet in my government and history classes. I wasn't disruptive or disrespectful but I had a voice and I wanted it to be heard.

That lead to my life in public service. As I worked to protect and expand rights, I found myself teaching the people I worked with and who volunteered for me on how to do those same things. I trained people how to make a change.

I learned about myself that I wanted to continue that path and work to teach younger people that they have a voice to be heard and that they can make changes.

I changed my path to become a teacher.

I hold a M.Ed from the University of Oregon in Curriculum & Education with a focus in social studies for grades 5 - 12.

I hold a B.A from George Mason University in Government & International Politics that focused on American Government and Court systems.

For over a decade, I worked in public service serving the federal government, national political operations, and non-profit organizations to create a stronger communities and protect the rights of people.I worked in local, state, gubernatoruial, and presidential campaigns that provides me with a unique experience in how the nation and its varuious levels of government work.

About the lesson

I work to provide students with the understanding that the work environment is safe and healthy. I work with the student to understand their educational, family, and socio-economic situations and provide the level of support that they need to enhance their student skills.
