About Erin

I love helping students conquer new material, develop better study habits, and prepare for their futures. I'm here to help you achieve your goals! I started tutoring in 2015 with a national test-prep service before branching out on my own. I have helped dozens of students improve their standardized test scores and grades as well as learn to be better organized and more efficient at studying and completing homework. In my day job, I work as a social science researcher and health educator and am currently completing my PhD in sociology at the University of California, San Francisco.

I started my career as a trained health educator, meaning that I was prepared to design and evaluate curriculum and to teach children, adolescents, and adults. This allows me to work successfully with a broad variety of students. I have also taught graduate level statistics and writing as part of my PhD program.

About the lesson

At our first meeting, I like to sit down with the student (and their family, if possible) to discuss their goals for our time together and lay out a plan for accomplishing those goals. I want to learn what the student's strengths and weaknesses are, how they usually study, and what made them decide to hire a tutor. Then, we work together to decide how we will spend our time together and what we want to accomplish.
