About Ashley
I am an elementary school teacher with teaching certificates of advanced standing in elementary eductation multidisciplinary studies, early childhood education, and special education. I am very passionate about helping my students reach their full potential. I differentiate my lessons based on my students' concerns and needs and am very flexible with my teaching styles.
I absolutely love teaching. I love being able to help children achieve their highest potential and make learning fun, as well as being able to have an impact on each student I work with.
I have always loved school ever since I was a child. I originally went to nursing school straight out of high school, but realized it was not the path I wanted to follow and decided to pursue something else I had always been passionate about - teaching and learning.
I am a recent graduate from Rider University (Lawrenceville), at which I graduated Magna Cum Laude. I majored in elementary education multidisciplinary studies with a concentration in science and a double minor in early childhood and special education. I received certificates of advanced standing in all three areas and graduated in 3 years.
I have always worked with children as a babysitter, nanny, as well as having worked at daycares and summer camps. I started teaching at an elementary school the schoolyear following my graduation, and I feel that my education and experiences have prepared me to be a quality tutor because of the varying needs and abilities of the children I have worked with.

Every child learns differently, so in order to tailor each lesson to my student's needs, I would first make sure that i observe the student and learn their strengths, needs, and learning styles. I would then create lessons based on those characteristics to best assist the student's learning style.
I have worked with a variety of students including those with Autism, cognitive disorders, Dyslexia, ADD/ADHD (to name a few). I also have experience with children who suffer from anxiety.
I personally believe that children will not learn unless they feel safe and cared for. Advice I would give a student looking to hire a teacher in my area of expertise is to make sure they can form a secure and trustworthy relationship with their teacher. If they feel they will be judged or are scared/nervous to speak up and ask questions, that may not be the right tutor for them.
In math class, we were learning about fractions. My students were struggling with subtracting fractions, and I taught them a neat trick to help them. It was great watching their facial expressions change when they finally understood what they had to do.
