About Minko
Design skills take a lifetime to master. I've been in the business of brand visual identity design for over 20 years and I'm still learning. The best way to learn is with others. This is why I started teaching graphic design over 10 years ago. Students have helped me learn a lot.
Design is a state of mind. It is not just for the talented and the creative. Creativity is all about setting the right conditions for design to happen. Today, with technology enabling our creativity, we are all designers.
My work has been featured in international publications such as Graphis and recognized for poster design as well as advertising and branding. I don't specialize in any particular industry, which helps me communicate across disciplines. My diverse educational and professional background will help you learn and feel comfortable in any context. This is where the strength of design thinking comes from—a diverse mix that transcends cultural boundaries. Such complexity requires a solid craft that will help you master simplicity and clarity of communication. The fact that with every project you face the unknown and discover your creativity.
I had no intention to teach until I was asked to teach a course after conituous engagement as a guest critic at portfolio reviews. My inexperience became my gratest asset. I discovered that teaching is all about learing to learn.
My educaton in Law and Culturology helps analyze, organize, and broaden the scope of engagement. My training and experience in design supoorts a collaborative creative process.

I engaged a cllient of mine in a branding workshp as part of my work on their brand identity. The experience not only helped my design efort, but made memebrers of my client's organization gain a sense of ownership in the creatice process. When the final product was a success, I was not the only one proud of the accomplishment. It is very rewarding to see the mix of educational and professional experience work together efectively.
In my classroom I always use examples of my work to egage students at the very basic level of creative work by deconstructing my process.
