About Cole
Most test prep products (ex: classes, online courses, even tutors) focus almost exclusively on the subject material. While knowing your formulae and vocabulary is important, it’s only a piece of the puzzle. Ignoring the rest of the puzzle is kind of like trying to cross a large lake in a canoe without paddles - you’ll get there if you use your hands, but it’ll take forever and you’ll be miserable the whole time. At The GRE Specialist, we provide the paddles, life jacket, and compass - basically, we fill in the gaps that other test prep companies miss.
Here are some of the topics we’ll cover, in addition to the basic subject material:
Sustainable study practices (i.e., how to study consistently, without burning yourself out)
Effective study practices (i.e., figuring out your minimum effective dose for studying)
Test-taking strategies
Motivation / discipline / routine
Lifestyle stuff (exercise, sleep, and eat right)
I’ve learned these skills and techniques from my own journey through academia - not just from studying for the GRE. For example, when I was an undergraduate student, I figured out studying and test-taking so well that I actually felt guilty talking to my roommate about it. There were several instances where I felt the need to leave my room so my roommate wouldn’t feel bad seeing me just relaxing (again). Now, I’m at the point in my life where I want to share what I’ve learned with other people so they too can crush it.
When I was studying for the GRE, I unwittingly wasted hundreds of dollars and literally half a year of my life using bad test prep materials and inefficient study habits. It felt terrible. I’ve since figured out the GRE and have gotten my dream score. However, I remember feeling hopeless and like I was wandering in the dark. I love helping people avoid that pain and get a score that makes them feel like their future potential is limitless.
