About Brandon

With nearly 2 decades of teaching experience, and years of professional performance experience, touring with my wife as an Americana Duo, I have developed a unique approach to the guitar that, for the beginning student gets them playing their favorite songs very quickly, and for the more experienced player, teaches them to utilize the full sound potential of the instrument.

I'm incredibly passionate about music, and music theory, especially when it comes to the guitar. It is such a unique instrument that allows for so much creativity and interpretation. I love helping students understand the potential of the guitar and guiding them to develop their own voice on the instrument.

I started teaching when I was around 18 or 19 years old. I had been taking lessons at my local music store for a few years and was about to start a 2-year music performance certificate program at The Hartford Conservatory.

The lesson program at the store had been growing and the owner offered me a teaching position. I taught there for the next 3 and a half years maintaining a schedule of 40 - 60 weekly students before moving to Seattle in 2005.

I studied Jazz and Popular Music Performance at Greater Hartford Academy of The Arts, and later at The Hartford Conservatory in Connecticut, during which time I was teaching private guitar and bass lessons at a local music store.

I moved to Seattle in 2005 and began teaching for the now national 4/4 School of Music, while performing with various artists in the local music scene.

In 2008 I began working as a Music Director for Carnival Cruiselines, where I spent the next 5 years travelling around the Carribbean and leading a Top 40 cover band. A couple of years into this job, an amazingly talented singer joined our band, who eventually became my wife!

Since leaving the Cruise Ship Industry about 8 years ago, she and I have been working as fulltime musicians. We've released 2 full-length studio albums which we've toured both regionally and nationally in support of. We perform regularly around Texas at various festivals and concert series as well as countless Weddings and special events.

About the lesson

I offer a free consultation during which we can meet (virtually), discuss your goals and aspirations, and evaluate your current abilities with the guitar. If we both feel like we're a good fit, I will then develop a personalized lesson plan for us to follow as we move forward.

I have worked with students from 6 years old to 60. Some were taking lessons for fun, and some went on to be full-time, professional musicians.

I approach each student as an individual and believe that above all else, playing an instrument should be fun!
