About Eric

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years. I mostly play play rock and roll but like to mix it up with some blues, blue grass, folk, rhythm and blues, and even some punk or heavy metal once in a while.

I don't hold any music degrees but I did grow up with a mother that taught piano for 40 years and I did take some music theory classes in high school and college. I definitely understand more than enough music theory than is necessary for rock and roll. I think students should understand what they are playing as far as the keys, scales, chord progressions etc in the songs. but should ultimately rely on their ear when learning and playing songs.

I enjoy and take pride in watching students improve over time. Especially enthusiastic students that are thrilled at every new trick learned on the guitar like I was when first startring out.

About the lesson

The first step is to find out what the student hopes to get out of the lessons. If there are specific songs the student hopes to be able to someday play then the lessons can be designed to learn the skills necessary for a certain song, or set of songs.
