About Ryan
Anybody can pick up some tabs online these days for any song they could imagine. Most could muddle through with the help of some videos on the web and some practice. If you just want to play somebody else's song that's fine and dandy, but what if you wanted to understand what, and why you are playing? What if you wanted to write your own song???
Since my journey began as a guitar player began, I dreamed of writing my own music. It took a lot of practice, and some good old fashioned book learning. Now it's my turn to pass my knowledge along to you.
I'll be the first to admit I'm no Malmstein, but I can cover a variety of styles. I spent many years chasing speedy metal riffs, and also have a decent chunk of jazz experience.IF YOU ARE IN HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ BAND, im your guy. Ive been in these shoes before! Want to learn some beautiful classical guitar? We can throw out the picks and play like they did back in the baroque days! Any style you want to learn I can help you along your journey, unless it involves scenes from the movie August Rush... I won't go there :(
Also one last note, I build guitars from scratch, so I like to set my students guitars up for free saving you some $$$ and a trip to the music store. With me you'll never have to send a guitar to the shop, because I am the shop!
There is a time in most people's guitar journey that something just clicks and they realize that they can actually do this! This is usually when you start to get energized and see progress accelerate. I love being around a student that is confident and excited about learning. That's when I can break out the funnel and start pouring knowledge into your brain as fast as gravity allows!

With a new student the first thing to do is to establish what the goals are, and also adjust their guitar to play and sound good! After thats out of the way we try to dive right in. Each week I usually have a theory lesson and I do give a tiny bit of written homework. I try to make it so you always understand what is going on, on the the fretboard as you progress.
