About Daniel

I am a founding member of the band Good Old War and current touring guitar player for singer/songwriter, Joshua Radin. I've been studying guitar, bass and ukulele for over 30 years and have spent the last 15+ years on the road and in studios all over the world. In the last couple of years I've focused much of my attention on helping others learn to play and have found this deeply rewarding. I still create music with Good Old War, Joshua Radin and solo guitar work. I also tour and collaborate with all kinds of artists. I hope to give the practical knowledge I've gained through being a professional full time musician to my students and set them on the path to great success.

Showing others that success in music is possible at whatever stage of development they are currently starting from. I have had nothing but success teaching students everything from simple chords to complex music theory. It's all within your reach!

I taught guitar all through high school and college age to support myself while working towards becoming a full time musician. Now that I have realized that dream I decided I wanted to get back to helping people along their musical path. I have been teaching regularly and find that it is truly rewarding and nothing brings me more joy than the success of my students.

About the lesson

We will start by seeing where a student is in their development and I will create a curriculum for that student's individual needs. Although I always have a plan for every lesson, I am also flexible when a student has specific things they'd like to focus on.

I currently teach and have taught students from age 8 to 70. They've come from different walks of life and play at all levels from beginner to advanced. My goal has always been to make them more well rounded, more knowledgable and more enjoyable to play with.

If you'd like to learn to play an instrument from me, always remember that our focus will be on the study of music. It's not about speed or shredding. We will use those things as tools to express ourselves to our fullest. The more we know as players the better we will be able to speak the language of music. Our main goal is to bring joy to the listener and ourselves.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What am I trying to accomplish by learning to play guitar? Are there certain goals you have in mind? Do you want to focus on theory, soloing, rhythm, learning songs, ear training, etc... Any and all of these are welcome responses. More than anything, are you ready to put in a lot of work for the most fulfilling reward?

Details

All lessons are $60 for an hour once a week or we can do two half hour lessons a week for $30 each. Payment can come directly after the completion of the lesson or in lump payments. That is at the discretion of the student. I do ask for a deposit of $60 for the first lesson upon signing up.
