About Mason

I've received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from UCA, having studied with classical guitar as my main instrument. I've got most experience and training in classical guitar, but I have other experience from performing in rock/metal groups, the UCA Jazz Band, and some worship groups. I also have experience with music theory, including arrangement, counterpoint, and 20th Century composition theory/techniques.

It's awesome whenever someone shares an interest in something that I'm passionate about and have begun pursuing as a career. And with that, I enjoy getting to experience the beginning of someones journey towards learning a new skill set, getting to guide them and encourage them in it, solving the more difficult parts of learning guitar and/or theory, then experiencing the victories over those obstacles.

I started teaching at the Community School of Music in Conway while I was completing the last couple of years of my undergrad.

Bachelor of Arts in Music; specifically classical guitar

Experience: rock/metal bands, UCA Jazz Band, UCA Guitar Ensemble, worship groups, solo classical performances, theory classes

About the lesson

I've worked mostly with children and teens from around 5-13, but I have also worked with older students as well.

Look for someone who is passionate either about teaching, about guitar/theory, or both. When you find someone whose more passionate, then your experience in learning it will be much more enjoyable.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about the goals you want to achieve and the purpose in those goals, whether that's wanting to just be a proficient musician, very knowledgable in music, or just being a well-rounded musician. When you're able to communicate these goals with an instructor, they're able to make their lessons more efficient in helping you reach those goals.
